OOTD - Sunday 27th June

Here is a little late outfit of the day from last Sunday. I looove the jacket I'm wearing so much - its perfect to go with little summer dresses. Its a copy of the amazing Alexander Wang denim/leather jacket - alas mine is not Alexander Wang - its from Bik Bok and I got it on sale a few months ago! My lovely lace dress is from Topshop. I teamed it up with black leggings - I was inside all day with AC on so I didn't suffer too much from the heat that the UK had!! Even though its Wednesday when I'm writing this, I hope you all had great weekend! :)

Clothes Show London 2010

Hello everyone! I wanted to say thanks so much to my new followers :) It really means a lot that you're all following me. I hope you enjoy reading my posts!

This weekend I was working at the Clothes Show in London, and did a little video to show you what I bought. I didn't realise how long it was and when I tried to upload to YouTube it was too long - so I literally spent hours trying to split it - so here are the results below :) I will do reviews and swatches soon as well as my June Favourites!!

Thanks for reading as always,

Charlotte

Some Goodies All The Way From China!

First of all - well done England!! We got through to the knock out stages! Wohoo! I don't know about you guys, but I really love football, and I was really upset when I realised the England game was at 3pm today, so I actually didn't get to watch it. I heard whenever there was a shot on goal though because of all the shouts coming from outside! Also I am working ALL weekend so I will miss the match on Sunday, I can't believe it!! :(

Anyway, moving on, my boss bought me back some requests this week from China - my shopping list seems to get bigger and bigger each time I get the opportunity! Here are just a couple of things that I bought - lots of Kawaii Japanese magazines (they are a million times cheaper to buy in China than in London I can tell you!) - which are actually the Chinese edition - ie with the Chinese editors notes - not that I can read either Chinese or Japanese!!). Looking forward to having a good old look through these - thats my weekend reading accounted for (when I'm not working that is!!). My most favourite thing was this gorgeous leopard print scarf - I actually have this scarf in two other colours, the classic brown print and the grey/blue one. I LOVE THEM!!! They are so easy to wear and go with everything. And they are so huge! You can just wrap up in them. Amazing. My boss also got me a little keyring from Japan - sooo kawaaii! She knows me very well that I love things like that.

Enjoy the pictures!!

Finally, I am really looking forward to the weekend as I'm working at the Clothes Show - I have set myself a budget and it will all be going on make up and beauty as you can get bargains galore there - so I will definitely do a video on that probably on Monday when I get some time to myself!! Can't wait!! I am hoping to stock up on Eyeko face wipes (last time they were £1 a box - amazing) and I really can't wait to see if Sleek are selling their make up brushes. Will do a full report once its over! :)

Are any of you guys going to Clothes Show this weekend?
Hope you're all having lovely weeks, and thanks so much for reading :)

Revlon Colourburst and 17 Lasting Fix Lipstick

I bought two Revlon lippies and a cheap one from 17 to try out. I love the packing of the Revlon Colourburst lipsticks - very sleek and chic. I just got the 17 one for fun really as I though the colour was right up my street! There was hardly any selection for the Revlon ones, so I just got the last two colours that were left - Crimson and Carnation. The Crimson is very dark so I wouldn't wear it too much - its a lot darker than my Topshop one in daredevil. Strictly for a night out with a LBD methinks. The Carnation I am not too mad about - I would probably mix it with something else to make it a bit frostier. I prefer paler to brighter pinks. So surprisingly I really like the 17 colour in shell! Its my favourite out of the three (go figure). Its a lovely frosty nudey pink colour. You have to have patience when applying as it doesn't go on that well, and its not very smooth, but the colour is so sweet and its exactly the kind of colour that I love to wear during the day.

Maison Martin Margiela Exhibition - 20 - At Somerset House

Just a warning this is a picture heavy post! Yesterday I went to see the Maison Martin Margiela exhibition at Somerset House, and I can't recommend it highly enough. It is one of the best fashion exhibitions I've ever seen of late, its so well done, I really urge you to go if you have a chance. Martin Margiela is an odd one to figure out, he retreated from public life ages ago so no one really knows who he is. And whenever there are interviews or press releases or anything like that done, he will always refer to the house as 'we' - its never 'I'. I find it really intruiging and refreshing to see this - in the culture we live in where celebrity and fashion walk hand in hand most of the time, its nice to see such a clear and passionate focus on the garments that are created. And let me say that the clothing is literally ground breaking. Playing with silhouette and the construction and deconstruction of garments, a lot of the items are less wearable and more art, but many of them are just things that you have never seen before - until Martin Margiela did it. I am no expert by any means in fashion, I just like to take an interest in it, cos well, who doesn't like clothes!? And these are definitely ones you have to see. I purchased the exhibition book and here are some photos from it so you can get an idea about the house. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take photos so we will have to make do with these. The trees outside Somerset House were all wrapped in white in honour of the exhibition! Have you been?

My First Lomography Roll Developed!

I bought my Diana camera at the end of last week - I couldn't wait any longer! My boyfriend (Nick) and I got a bit carried away in the store and bought a couple of snazzy extras - two different lenses that create different effects. One is called a bubble lens and one is a splitzer - which means you can create amazing photos by merging two shots together in one picture. It was so fun working out how to use the camera - even loading up the film (I admit we had to watch a You Tube tutorial to figure that one out...!). And as its completely manual there was quite a few things to remember, different settings etc. Anyway to cut a long story short we used up one film over the weekend - 12 shots - and we only got 8 good shots back today - but we were expecting some of the pictures not to come out as it was our first go using it. Anyway here are some of the pictures - I love them!! They aren't perfect by any means but that is the beauty of them. I especially love the one of my two cats called Xena and Wolfie - she is the grey and he is the ragdoll - they are my babies!

Japanese Magazines

I am a big magazine fan - I subscribe to Vogue and Elle and I read Look and Grazia weekly as we have them delivered at work. Sometimes I find myself unable to concentrate on any of the articles though, and just flick through without really reading anything. I think its because I go through phases of getting a bit bored with the layout and sometimes feel like I'm reading the same stories from week to week/month to month. So I am so happy that I found magazines that are an absolute joy to flick through because they are so filled with visual delights - its like reverting back to childhood and looking at picture books. These wonderful magazines are native to Japan and are very hard to come by in the UK. My boss bought some back from China last year and that's how I discovered their amazingness! I love Japanese culture and these magazines are just brilliant - the pages are just jam packed with pictures and cute things - you almost don't know where to look. And the best part? No reading involved as I can't read Japanese characters!! I get my magazines whenever my boss comes back from China, and I also found them in a little magazine store near where I work, but *warning* they are VERY expensive indeed to buy, as they have travelled a long way to be here. However, I think its totally worth it as they are so fun to read, and I save magazines so they are great to have in my little collection. If any of my readers is interested in purchasing any, I would be more than happy to get them from my little magazine shop - just email me :) Have a look at some of these lovely big scans and you can see just how brill they are! Kawaii!

From Nowt To Pout!

lipstick1

Today I just wanted to quickly write about one of the lipsticks from the Topshop range that I bought last month. I bought the lipstick called Daredevil which is a gorgeous red. Its my very first red lipstick and I have to say I was quite nervous about wearing it for the first time, but as soon as I put it on I was in love!! The first day I wore it, no lie, it lasted ALL DAY! I talked on the phone a lot at work, ate and drank (as you do) and it was still there at 6pm! Couldn't believe it... and I didn't find it too drying either. Its definitely my favourite lipstick at the moment and here are a couple of before and after shots of me to show you the power!
